The conclusion that increased stimming, less sleeping, or increased anxiety is from inulin feeding “bad” bacteria such as Klebsiella are obvious concerns of these parents.

I am not saying this is impossible but I do not believe that to be the case with inulin. I have not seen any indication that inulin increases bacterial overgrowth in any of my patients. I believe there are several reasons for this.

The first reason is that inulin's main effect is within the lumen of the small intestine where bacteria digest inulin through a process referred to as fermentation.

The primary effect is the production of the healthy short chain fatty acid known as butyric acid. Only small amounts of inulin pass through to the colon.
